JOB SUMMARY: The Full Charge Bookkeeper is responsible for bookkeeping, assisting in normal day-to-day accounting and finance functions of the Authority.  This position includes customer service and assisting with processing cash receipts and purchase orders, and other general office duties, as needed.


  • Monitors cash flow to ensure sufficient funds are available
  • Reconciles all bank accounts; prepares requisitions to transfer money between accounts for monthly expenses; maintains updated information in all accounts and ensures all accounts are balanced
  • Performs month end closings for accounts receivable and accounts payable
  • Maintains general ledger accounts by verifying, allocating and posting transactions
  • Prepares the general ledger trial balance
  • Reconciles all general ledger line items including revenues, expenses, payroll expenses and liabilities, cash, accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Assists with all fiscal year end closings
  • Tracks and records fixed assets in accounting software; generates annual depreciation reports for the auditors
  • Generates 1099 forms along with the accompanying 1096 form annually
  • Maintains historical records in organized files, both electronic and paper
  • Provides excellent customer service by assisting with telephone inquiries and in-person payments
  • Posts cash receipts payments as needed
  • Performs all other duties as assigned


  • High degree of knowledge for accounting principles and procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to complete all steps of the monthly accounting cycle
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work effectively with little direction or oversight
  • Excellent computer skills, including all Microsoft Office products.  Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel required.  High level of competence with use of accounting software(s) required; knowledge of Great Plains accounting software preferred
  • Detail orientated and committed to appropriate and accurate record keeping
  • Demonstrated competence to prepare and analyze comprehensive financial reports
  • Strong ability to carry out assigned projects to their completion
  • Possess high degree of professionalism to maintain confidentiality and discretion
  • Able to multi-task in a fast paced, team focused, work environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills


  • Requires at least 3 years of hands-on experience in bookkeeping or accounting in the public or private sector
  • AIPB or NACPB certification preferred, or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Candidate must possess a high school diploma or equivalent

  • While performing the duties of this job, the Bookkeeper is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The Bookkeeper will occasionally be required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.  The Bookkeeper must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
