SUMMARY

Performs all assigned production tasks on the G-14 to ensure that quality products are made safely and efficiently. This includes:

  • Operates G-14 and associated equipment
  • Supplying all Raw materials to the G-14 line, to include coffee and nitrogen
  • Perform machine size changes
  • Performs maintenance to keep production line running
  • Ensures packaging personnel are packing product correctly.
  • Monitoring line operations to ensure that safety, quality and efficiency objectives are achieved

This individual operates and troubleshoots production line machinery as required.

He/she may perform minor repairs as necessary (e.g. clearing a minor jam) to support efficient operations.

This position performs required Quality Control checks per established procedures and schedules. This position works closely with Roasting and Flavoring Departments, and monitors end of line packaging . 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operates assigned production line machinery in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Troubleshoots assigned production line machinery as necessary and performs minor repairs.
  • Reacts to correct line stoppages to minimize downtime.
  • Assists mechanics during on-shift equipment changeovers as needed. Uses downtime to clean and maintain his/her work area.
  • Is responsible for quality control. Tests product during production per established procedures and schedules. Makes adjustments to equipment as necessary to ensure product is produced within specifications. Rejects product outside of specifications. Stops the line and seeks management assistance when product specifications cannot be achieved.
  • Operates within standard operating procedures (SOP’s), Job Safety Analyses (JSA’s) and AIB requirements.
  • Operates a forklift as required to maintain raw material supply for the production line as required.
  • Completes daily production logs as required.
  • Communicates with operators from other shifts to ensure a smooth transition of operations.
  • Maintains a clean, organized and safe work environment at all times.
  • Turns off and locks out equipment when not in use.
  • Performs “On-The-Job” Training for new employees as required
  • .Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Shift Supervisor and/or management personnel as required.

Works overtime as required by plant management to run out coffee, meet customer needs, etc.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operates G-14 and Coffee Feed System
  • Performs required Quality Control testing as required, including:
  • Meade Jar Leak Tests
  • Static Weight Checks
  • Date/Product Code Verification
  • Other Tests As May Be Assigned
  • Stops the line and seeks management assistance when quality requirements cannot be achieved.
  • Removes finished goods pallets from the stretch wrapper and moves to designated staging area.
  • Operates a fork truck as required to move materials and finished goods.
  • Ensures that box labels are properly set up for product being packaged (including proper date codes and “best before dates”, if applicable)
  • Ensures that pallets are properly tagged per established requirements.
  • Performs size and product changeovers as needed. Uses downtime to clean and maintain his/her work area.
  • Cleans out coffee feed system for Organic products and after Flavor production runs
  • Maintains communication with Roaster and Flavor Machine Operators to ensure an efficient and safe operation.
  • Communicates with operators from other shifts to ensure a smooth transition of operations.
  • Maintains a clean, organized and safe work environment at all times.
  • Works to maintain productivity.
  • Communicates any problems regarding quality, safety and/or productivity to management as necessary.
  • Turns off and locks out equipment when not in use.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Shift Supervisor and/or management personnel as required.
  • Works overtime as required by plant management to run out coffee, meet customer needs, etc.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Basic reading, writing, arithmetic and communication skills required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and associated control panels.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds is required.
  • Climbing  

WORKING CONDITIONS

Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work involves frequent lifting of materials and product up to 30 pounds. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include (but not limited to):

  • Safety glasses
  • Hearing protection
  • Hairnets (and beard nets, if required)

Loose fitting clothing is not permitted.

Strict adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices is required at all times.

The use of clean gloves is required for all can or coffee handling. Plant AIB requirements must be followed at all times.
